Expert
As sworn-in expert for metal springs (German chamber of commerce). I write reports accepted by court. I can be also arbitrator in the field of metal springs. The necessary studies I do by myself or under my supervising.
Technological Transfer
As accredited lab (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025) I am able to
determine residual stresses
determine retained austenite
Because of the accreditation, the results is not questioning, e. g. automotive manufacture. Measuring outside the lab at big components (e. g. cranes, off-shore constructions) is one of my specialties.
Consulting
From reengineering processes up to continuous improvement. Analysis of further potentials in your company up to projects, workshops and monitoring of new established structures.
Curriculum Vitae
1977 - 1984: Studied physics, mathematics and educational sciences
1984 - 1988: scientific employee at the TU Dortmund in the field of physics, partly at CERN
1987: Promotion to Dr. rer. nat. in elementary particle physics
1987 - 1993: Head of research at HOESCH Springs Bochum University of Applied Sciences
1994 - 1996: commercial manager at Krämer+Freund (aftermarket car springs)
1996 - 1998: In-house consultant at KruppHoesch
1998 - 2025: Professor of physics at Bochum University
2004: Foundation of the Steinbeis-Transfer Center for Spring Technology, Component Behavior and Process
2009: Expansion of the laboratory for determining residual stresses to an accredited testing laboratory (according to DIN 17025 and also VDFI 8501)
since 2020: Member of the DIN committee NA 26 (springs)
since 2022: Publicly appointed and sworn expert for metal springs
